Baneocin Ointment – Topical Antibacterial for Skin Infections & Wound Care – 20 g

Indications:
Baneocin is an antibacterial medicine that is applied to the skin. It works by destroying
certain bacteria that cause skin conditions.
Baneocin ointment is used in:
- infections of the hair follicles and infections of the sweat glands
- treatment of certain infections and ulcers on the skin
- felons
- treatment of burns and injuries caused by hot liquids, superinfected
- treatment of eczema, superinfected cracks and cuts
- prevention of infections that occur after surgical interventions on the skin.

Contraindications:
Do not use Baneocin ointment:
- if you are allergic to bacitracin, neomycin, other aminoglycoside antibiotics (such as neomycin, gentamicin, amikacin) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Precautions:
Before using Baneocin ointment, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Pregnancy, lactation and fertility:
Neomycin, like all aminoglycoside antibiotics, crosses the placenta. Lesions of the cochlear apparatus have been described in the case of parenteral administration of high doses to the mother.
Since systemic absorption of the active substances in Baneocin is possible, administration is not recommended in pregnant women or during lactation, especially in local applications to the breasts.

Driving and using machines:
Baneocin does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.

Method of administration:
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose for both adults and children is 2-3 applications of Baneocin ointment per day.
In the case of local treatment, it is recommended not to exceed the dose of 1 g neomycin per day (corresponding to 200 g of Baneocin cutaneous powder or ointment) administered for a maximum period of 7 days. In the case of repeated treatment, this dose should be halved.
The ointment is applied in a thin layer to the treated area; it can be covered with a dressing.

Composition:
- The active substances are zinc bacitracin and neomycin sulfate. One gram of ointment contains 250 IU zinc bacitracin and 5000 IU neomycin sulfate.
- The other ingredients are anhydrous lanolin and white petrolatum.
