Indications:
Loperamid Terapia contains loperamide hydrochloride, which belongs to a group of medicines called peristalsis inhibitors, antipropulsives. Loperamid Terapia is used to treat a sudden (acute) episode of diarrhoea or long-term (chronic) diarrhoea.
In case of diarrhoea, Loperamid Terapia makes the stools more consistent and less frequent.

If you do not feel better after 2 days or feel worse, you should consult a doctor.

Contraindications:
Do not use Loperamid Terapia:
- if you are allergic to loperamide hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Precautions:
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Loperamid Terapia.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

It is not recommended to take this medicine during pregnancy.

It is recommended not to take Loperamid Terapia if you are breast-feeding, as small amounts of Loperamid Terapia are excreted in your breast milk.

Pregnant or breast-feeding women should therefore be advised to consult their doctor for appropriate treatment.

Driving and using machines:

If during treatment (or as a result of diarrhoea) you feel tired, sleepy or dizzy, are less alert or have a feeling of faintness, avoid driving or using machines.

Method of administration:
Always use this medicine as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Acute diarrhoea:
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age:
The recommended initial dose is 4 mg loperamide hydrochloride (2 Loperamid Terapia capsules) taken orally, followed by 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride (one Loperamid Terapia capsule) after each loose stool.

Chronic diarrhoea:
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age:
The recommended initial dose is 4 mg loperamide hydrochloride per day (2 Loperamid Terapia capsules) for adults and 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride per day (1 Loperamid Terapia capsule) for adolescents. This initial dose should be adjusted until 1-2 solid stools per day are achieved. This is usually achieved with a maintenance dose of 1-6 capsules (2 mg-12 mg loperamide hydrochloride) per day.
The maximum dose for acute and chronic diarrhea is 8 capsules (16 mg) per day for adults, in adolescents it should be related to body weight (3 capsules/20 kg), but should not exceed a maximum of 8 capsules per day.

Elderly:
No dose adjustment is necessary in the elderly.

Children under 12 years of age:
In children under 12 years of age, pharmaceutical forms and strengths appropriate to age are recommended.

If the stools become normal or if a stool has not been eliminated for 12 hours, stop taking Loperamid Terapia.

Composition:
- The active substance is loperamide hydrochloride. One capsule contains 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride.
- The other ingredients are: capsule contents - lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, partially pregelatinized corn starch, colloidal silicon dioxide; capsule cap and body - methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, propyl p-hydroxybenzoate, titanium dioxide (E 171), Patent Blue V (E 131), Allura Red AC (E129), quinoline yellow (E 104), gelatin.
