The Ovatoks product is a 12.5% Amitraz Solution

Amitraz is an active substance used to eliminate a number of external parasites of chickens, sheep, bees, etc.
Due to its more affordable price and highly effective anti-varroa effect, many beekeepers have successfully replaced Varachet with such amitraz solutions, such as Taktic, Scabatox, Mitak or Kenaz.
Beekeepers apply this product in three ways:
1. Drip onto strips of special paper that smolders, releasing toxic smoke (the same principle applied to Varachet)
2. Mixed with paraffin oil or lamp gas, and the resulting solution is sprayed as toxic smoke using Furetto or Fogger type devices inside the hives.
3. Mixed with sunflower oil and impregnated onto cellulose strips or wooden strips.
The purpose of applying amitraz solutions in beekeeping is to remove the parasite Varroa jacobsoni or Varroa destructor.

Since the methods presented above are not authorized for application in the apiary, beekeepers assume full responsibility for both the recipes they use and the results they obtain.

The quantities of product that beekeepers use vary depending on the size of the bee colonies.
